Youth Essay Contest

 “Why I Love Rowan County” Youth Essay Contest 2024

Deadline to Enter has been EXTENDED to March 3rd, 2024

The Rowan County Fiscal Court is excited to announce our first ever youth essay contest. The theme is “Why I Love Rowan County”. Students at Rowan County Schools and students residing in Rowan County are invited to submit an essay about why they love Rowan County and the positive changes they would like to see to improve our community. Students are asked to be creative and think about the good things that make up our community and region.

There will be three categories based on grade level:

·       Elementary- Minimum 100 words

·       Middle School- Minimum 150 words

·       High School- Minimum 250 words

·       All categories have a maximum of 500 words.

Essays may be legibly handwritten by the student or typed. Attach a photo or scanned copy of the essay using the “enter here” button below or at the link: https://form.jotform.com/240084650140041

Essays will be judged and selected by a panel of three jurors who cannot see the student’s name.

Each category will have first, second, and third place winners, who will receive signed certificates from Judge Clark. Their essays will be featured in our newsletter the Rowan Review, on our website rcky.us, and on our Facebook page @RCFiscalCourt. First place winners in each category will receive a $50 gift card donated personally by Judge Clark.
