Call to Artists for Mural Squares on the Bridge Street Side of Pasquale’s

Concept: Color designs for eighteen bi-bond mural panels will be selected by an anonymous jury. The final panel designs will be painted on 5 X 5-foot panels by the original selected artists using paint and panels provided by the Morehead Rotary Club. The finished panels will be mounted in a quilt-like design to make a community mural when all the artists have delivered their panels.
Specifications: Artists high school or older who have lived in Rowan County, KY are invited to digitally submit up to TWO PIECES of original art for inclusion in our Rotary Mural. Artwork must have been completed within the past three years and relate to Rowan County. Work must comply with the format below.
Artwork should have square proportions that can be scaled up to 5 foot by 5-foot outdoor murals, which will be displayed on bi-bond sign panels arranged on a metal grid frame 30 feet by 15 feet.
The original color design can be in any medium, and will remain the property of the artist by copyright. The final painted 5 by 5-foot mural will belong to Morehead Rotary Club, which will provide paint, brushes, and panels, maintain the overall mural, and have use permission.
Content should communicate messages or images consistent with positive images and/or goodwill. Content cannot promote anything that may appear unsafe or dangerous or any particular political or social agenda or message.
Content cannot contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other indicia identifying any person, living or dead, without permission.
No cartoon characters, copyrighted, trademarked, or traced images such as Disney images are allowed. No artwork with logos or words that advertise or promote any brand or product, without permission, or contain any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, email addresses, or street addresses, will be approved.
Submission of Designs: Artwork will be submitted by email in digital photographs in jpeg format, using square images (300dpi ) no later than July 1, 2021, to MoreheadRotary@gmail.com.
All submitted artwork will be placed on the Public Art in Rowan County Facebook page to be juried and have public exposure. https://www.facebook.com/groups/168706170177889. The jury will finish by July 17, 2021, and selected artists will be informed by July 19th. Detailed instructions on painting the final murals will be given to the selected artists. Finished panels will be delivered by the artist to Morehead, KY by September 11, 2021.
