Morehead-Rowan-MSU Community Recycling Center Receives Grants to Support Equipment Costs
The Morehead-Rowan-MSU Community Recycling Center received a $204,000 grant to support the cost of a shredder/baler combo, conveyor w/ hopper to feed vertical shredding, (4) 2 yard hippo hoppers, (4) cardboard bins, 72’ forks for forklift, and advertising funds. The Energy and Environment Cabinet also awarded $9,500 to support efforts to help Rowan County residents safely dispose of household hazardous waste.
The Morehead-Rowan County-MSU Community Recycling Center offers a variety of free services, including 24-hour drop off for recyclables, information on buying recycled products, and information for local businesses and households on reducing solid waste. By appointment, they also offer tours of the MCRC, showing the process, environmental education, and native/natural landscaping techniques, as well as presentations to middle and elementary schools. Recycling plays an important role in conserving resources and maintaining a healthy environment, as well as reducing solid waste in the area.
