John “Pete” B. Hamm Station 2 Completed
Today is a monumental day for emergency services in Rowan County. The John “Pete” B. Hamm Station 2 is now complete. Nearly 130 members of our community joined us to celebrate this significant milestone at our ribbon cutting ceremony.
Many hardworking individuals came together to make the development and construction of this building a success. We’d like to give special thanks to our county’s staff and our partners, including Governor Beshear, our legislators, the Department of Local Government, the Gateway Area Development District, our contractor W. Principles, and our architect, MSE of Kentucky.
We also recognize Pete Hamm, the namesake of the building, for his lifetime of service to Rowan County. During his twenty years as EMS Director, he grew the service from a barebones single-vehicle operation to a self-sufficient service recognized as one of the best in the state. Pete’s insight, dedication, and leadership, along with a high-quality staff began the process that allows us to be here celebrating today. As a small thanks for Pete’s dedication to Rowan County, we were proud to dedicate the new ambulance station as the John Pete B. Hamm Station. Judge Clark and Pete raised the station’s flag for the first time together, beginning this new milestone for our county.
Our dedicated EMS staff are hard at work preparing for operations to begin from this location. The John “Pete” B. Hamm Station 2 will reduce response times, aid in transfers, and serve the needs of the eastern half of our county. Judge Clark said, “Emergency services has been a priority of this administration from the beginning. This facility will serve as a lasting impact well into the future for the health and safety of the citizens of Rowan County.”
